Okay for some of you that do not know all ready I had a mammogram done on Monday April 23rd and on Tuesday April 24th I received a phone call from the hospital about my mamo and that they need me to come back in to have another mamo and ultrasound done on my left breast. So the first question is why? What did you find? Of course the gal who is making my appointment does not have the information in which I want answers too. She sett's me up with an appointment on May 7th at 10am (mamo) 10:30am (ultra sound) and let's me know that my doctor has a copy of the report. So I get off the phone with her and call Corey and freak out. I am thinking the worst that I have the C word. See both my mother and grandmother are breast C survivors. So after Corey calms me down I call my doctor to see what the report says and at this time it has not been attached to my file and ask for a call back. So then I call my mom and my mother-in-law about this. They give me words of advice and to not worry at this point. So by Wednesday I still have not heard anything from my doctor so I go to there office to get a copy of the report. This is what it says:
Bilateral Mammograms:
Mammograms are compared to priors in April of 2006 and reflect some differences. On the left side there are two rounded densities that my be small cysts. There is no evidence of architectural distortion or significant worrisome calcifications on either side. I will schedule the patient for some additional studies to try to determine it these are significant or not.
Impression:
1: two separate possible densities on the left
2: bi-rads 0: incomplete or needs additional imaging evaluation
So after readying this Corey and I look at each other and ask what the heck is architectural distortion? I think I will be calling 1-800-ACS-2345 to find out what this means in terms we can understand. 1-800- ACS-2345 is the American Cancer Society's phone number that you can call 24/7 and ask questions and get information about cancer. I will keep you posted on the out come.
