We took a road trip to Sumpter and Baker City, Oregon on Monday. We got up early and headed out making a few stops along the way. Stopped at a look out before Emigrant Springs state park and then went to Emigrant Springs and drove around and looked at the small cabins that they have to rent. We made our way into Baker City and had lunch and went to the Museum (the building was a indoor pool in the 1930's) and seen lots of great history items. We then headed to Sumpter to see the Dredge. The dredge is an important historic and cultural resource that links Oregon pioneering past with settlement and development. I still can not believe what the dredge left behind all the piling of rocks that go for miles and miles in every direction. We where not able to board the dredge due to the spring run off there is so much water that the pond that the dredge is in has flooded the bottom level of the dredge. Went to see the camp grounds that Corey stayed at when he was a kid McCully Creek camp grounds. We went and found our friends property in Sumpter. Then we headed back into Baker City and went to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, even though we did not have a lot of time to walk through we still enjoyed the place.
